Figure sketching is quite my forte and trees are just general shapes and curves so got it down pretty quick but don't have the mental techniques to take the image further.
Lighting is super weak also rendering and whatnot.
Happy I did this early in the evening so now i can go all out on my studies all night into the wee hours of the morning.

Trees are nice to paint, because you can just do some simple basic strokes and it reads as tree trunks 
Overall the values seem a bit flat, you've got about the same range in the background and foreground, so the image doesn't read very well, and the depth that is drawn there, isn't painted there. I do enjoy the idea of people petrified with the forest, and this has some storytelling which is always nice ^^
