"En Garde you monsters" study by LutherTaylor "En Garde you monsters" study by LutherTaylor
Just a quick study ( real meaning of speedpaint) of :iconrikusworld: cosplay picture titled the same!

I'm sorry I didn't ask for permission before hand. I just REALLY like her cosplay photographs and have a bunch of images I want to study!

I was more focused on acquiring the dynamics and colour of the image rather than accuracy. sometimes I get carried away
and actually spend a day on studies which is not the point!! but nearly ended up happening with this!

time limit was half hour
ending up being 1hr 20 sumthin mins

Wow,.... o_o This is beyond amazing. I truly love the brush strokes here... the quick capture of the colors. You really capture color beautifully. I am impressed. I can't wait to see more. wow... just wow. I love your style.. please keep it up!

I spend a ton of time on studies too man. I think as long as you are drawing, you are learning, which makes every study a success.

couldn't phrase it better myself man!
I wonder..alongside studies I tend to do gesture drawings a lot which is like scribbles.
sometimes I even use comics for gesture drawings as you get some insane action poses you won't be
able to pull off the top of your head which you can then modify with your own designs down the line.
do you do that as well?

anyway this is for you amigo!

That's actually a really good idea man. Real life poses just don't give the insane over the top-ness I'm looking for sometimes. I'll start looking into comics for reference, thanks!
